Meet our Instructors – Francis Taua
Francis Taua attended Southern Utah University studying Musical Theatre with an emphasis on Directing. While there, he worked professionally for three years as a member of the Actors’ Company. While in school, he started and served as Artistic Director for a student run Production Company called “Stage 2” which is still currently entering its 22 year of operation.
Taua co-wrote and co-directed a version of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” for Theatre Theatre Maui back in the early 90’s with co-founder Derek Nakagawa. He directed “Dial M for Murder,” “My Three Angels,” and “It’s Only A Play” for ProArts Maui as well as “Aladdin jr” and “Charlotte’s Web” for the ProArts Youth Theater.
He has toured with Maui Academy of Performing Arts theatre in the schools program on and off since 1989 and just completed his 21st tour this last year with “The Magic of Kamishibai.”
A regular of the Maui Stage, he has been seen in ProArts, MAPA, OhBoy, Baldwin Theatre Guild, and Maui OnStage Productions such as “The Trip to Bountiful,” “Hairspray,” “The Elephant Man,” “Tartuffe,” “Shrek,” “Into the Woods,” “Mary Poppins,” “The Miracle Worker,” and “Of Mice and Men.”
This is his third production with Theatre Theatre Maui.
